Please read the following information about preventing infections
Our practice nurses run a number of clinics to monitor and manage chronic illness (diabetes, heart disease, asthma, blood pressure, chronic chest disease).
Also they provide
Our Health Care Assistants work under the supervision of a qualified nurse and carry out a range of procedures such as blood pressure checks, taking blood, urine testing, and breathing tests.
IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FLU VACCINE PLEASE CONTACT THE SURGERY TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT. WE HAVE FLU CLINICS ON VARIOUS DAYS BETWEEN SEPTEBER TO MARCH.
The seasonal flu vaccine is offered to eligible groups set out below:
All patients aged 65 years and over
Chronic respiratory disease - aged 6 months or older
Asthma that requires continuous or repeated use of inhaled or systemic steroids or with previous exacerbations requiring hospital admission. Chronic obstructive disease (COPD) including chronic bronchitis and emphysema; cronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung fibrosis, pneumoconiosis and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Children who have previously been admitted to hospital for lower respiratory tract disease.
Chronic heart disease
Congenital heart disease, chronic heart failure, ischaemic heart disease.
Chronic kidney disease
Chronic kidney disease, chronic kidney failure, kidney transplantation
Chronic liver disease - aged 6 months or older
Cirrhosis, biliary artesia, chronic hepatitis
Chronic neurological disease
Stroke, transient ischaemic attack (TIA), individuals with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and related or similar conditions, hereditary and degenerative disease of the nervous system or muscles or severe neurological disability.
Type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes requiring insulin or oral hypoglycaemic drugs, diet controlled diabetes
Patients undergoing chemotherapy leading to immunosuppression
Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy (first, second or third trimesters)
People living in long stay residential care homes or other long stay care facilities where rapid spread is likely to follow introduction of infection
Please call between 11am and 3.30pm to enquire about your test results as our reception staff will have more time to deal with your request between these times.
Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.
It is your responsibility to contact the practice to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

If we have been unable to offer you an appointment and you need to see someone quickly, ask our reception staff about an appointment at a healthcare hub instead. You can also book the appointment yourself by calling 0116 366 0560 or NHS 111.
Appointments can be booked for the same day or up to 48 hours in advance.
